LONDON DIARIES: Day 3

Like on Wednesday, we had a slow start, lounging around till we finally got up, had a bath and had breakfast. Then, we went to the nearest metro station, grabbed something for lunch and took a metro to Baker Street to go to Madam Tussauds. It had been founded by Marie Tussaud, a French artist who had started her career of making wax paintings in the late 18th century.

Madam Tussauds

It was absolutely the best place for taking photos in London.  I took photos with Brad Pitt, Freddie Mercury, Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Rock and chatted with Spielberg, while Amma took a couple of pics with George Clooney.

Then we went on to the movies section, where they had made sculptures of characters from iconic movies, such as a giant face of Kong that had eyes that actually moved.

We went through Star Wars themed rooms, to James Bond themed rooms where me and papa took pictures with all the James Bonds, to a Marvel themed room, which had a small cinema where we watched an animated Marvel 3d video.
After we came out of Madam Tussauds, we walked to Regent’s Park where we had sandwiches for lunch and sat in the sun for some time. Then we took a metro to the home of cricket, Lord’s.

A member of the MCC (the Marylebone Cricket Club, the original cricket club, before the ICC) led us on a tour through the stands, balconies and dressing rooms of Lord’s where many iconic events occurred, such as Kapil Dev lifting the World Cup trophy in 1983 and Sourav Ganguly removing his shirt in 2002. Papa liked the tour a lot, I was fine with it and Amma didn’t really care. She just came with us. After the tour, we took a bus to Central London, in West End and had dinner in a Chinatown restaurant. We then walked to the Cambridge Theatre in Convent Garden to watch the musical Matilda. The theater was 100 years old and had been showing the musical for more than a decade. I enjoyed it a lot. It was really funny and the stage itself was a moving prop. It was amazing how the little children acted so well. Amma and I had a good time watching the musical. I suspect Papa was asleep for most of the time. We reached home late, at past 10. Thus ended our third day in London.
